“It is an honor and a privilege to share with you my story.
Times were hard for me. I was pregnant at 15, and homesick for my house and family in Alexandria,Virginia.
Living in Baltimore alone was not easy for me. I needed order and discipline in my life. Becoming a resident at the Hiding Place was my only option to get my life together. I finally changed my mind about my selfish ways because I realized how unhappy it made me. On that day I gave up on my destructive life and surrendered to change. I enjoyed my experiences here at The Hiding Place, I felt my life beginning to change and I never wanted to leave The Hiding Place. That was how much I enjoyed this experience. Learning about God’s word ,and applying it to my life, social skills, focusing on my plans for life, house cleaning and other things they train us to do at The Hiding Place was fun for me.
My family never supported me and my beautiful son, Isaiah. The Hiding Place took care of my needs. I am thankful to God for this program. This home is a true blessing for any women in crisis. The Hiding Place was a true blessing to me and it can be a blessing for you. If my life can change, then so can yours.”

Several years ago I was homeless and living on the streets of East Baltimore. I had not eaten for days. I remember that friends came to tell me about a block party that was located nearby giving away free food. The people their gave me food to feed my spiritual needs and physical body. During that time I also met with someone from the Hiding Place, who helped me as I was pregnant and did not know how I was going to make it. By God’s grace and the safety of this house, Tia (my daughter) was born instead of being another statistic. Barbara now lives in North Carolina with her daughter and will be getting married in 2007.
